About Thanks To Yanks
Thanks To Yanks, is a non-political 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to support military members, veterans, and their families. This organization, founded by Michael Shain in 2006, began with a 9/11 Tribute Dinner to recognize the sacrifices military families endured in response to the 9/11/01 attack on America. Mr. Shain did not want Americans to forget the heroes and victims of that tragic day nor did he want our military members, veterans or their families to think they were alone in their struggles. What was to be a one-time event, has turned into an annual 9/11 tribute dinner. The dinner is free to all military members, veterans, their families, and those who support them. While the dinner has continued to grow from 120 guests in 2006 to 370 in 2014 so has the scope of Thanks To Yanks.
By conducting needs assessments and ongoing discussions with many sources directly involved with military, veterans and their families, we can identify areas where there are gaps in service so we can maximize our support.
As an all volunteer organization we are working tirelessly to do our part to help. Not only do we provide resources, but we also connect the community, and such as school children, civic and religious groups with programs that support our military, veterans and their families. In doing so, we hope that we are promoting respect and remembrance for our troops and their families, as well as the heroes and victims of 9/11/01.
- Provide support and resources to our military, veterans and their families
- Promote civilian respect for current and past members of the military, reservists. and their families
